How long have you been a member of SPENGA?
Since June 2017, almost 5 years and coming up on 1000 sessions!! I fully retired in 2017 and needed a drastic change. SPENGA gave that to me and much more.
What initially drew you to SPENGA?
A good friend suggested I try it. I was very hesitant because I had never done spin. I loved the complete body workout concept, the “family” feeling and that each session was different.
Describe how the SPENGA WERKOUT makes you feel?
Accomplished. Strong. I commit to 5 days a week, Monday-Friday. If I miss a morning I feel sluggish and cranky (hard to believe lol). I try to push myself a bit more every day. If I’m feeling “off” I cut back and listen to my body.
What has been your favorite part about your experience at SPENGA?
Tough question as I have several favorites. My body and heart have changed a lot in the last 5 years. I love the 100% commitment given by each instructor. I love the people and connections I have made. I love the sass and the grit. I love that I don’t have to be anyone but ME.
Where can we find you when you aren’t at SPENGA?
Probably picking a beautiful Cab or Syrah from well stocked wine fridge. I spent a lifetime working very long days, traveling often for work, attending long weekends at swim meets and cheer competitions. Now I enjoy spending time at home trying new recipes, reading my bible, working a jigsaw puzzle and snuggling my puppies. If possible, I would spend more of my free days hiking/exploring/sipping bloodies with my family out west.
What is your favorite healthy meal or cocktail at a local restaurant?
Anything at Le Crepe Bistro in Homer. They have an amazing Green Mimosa, delicious and refreshing. I like to make Tito’s with raspberry or grapefruit Spindrift garnished with a thin slice of orange. I also I love avocado toast as a heathy meal.
Best piece of advice you can give to someone just starting out their fitness journey.
Listen to your body, listen to the instructors. They have your best interest in minds and in their hearts. Ask questions. Give yourself a couple weeks to settle in and get comfortable. Be you, do you. Everyone’s workout journey is different. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. You are worthy and loved.
